The year that was
16 December, 2020
2020 has been a year like no other.
Nevertheless, the health and safety of our staff, customers, contractors, and the wider community has always been our top priority as we continue to help the growth strategy of businesses across A/NZ.
With just a couple of weeks left for the year, let’s take a quick look back at the year that was 2020.
EmpowerSC2020
Kicking off the year was our annual Empower Sales Conference where we spent a weekend building relationships and strategically planning for 2020.
Under the tagline “Alone we are strong, but together we are stronger”, we were able to utilise the knowledge, skills and connections gained during the conference throughout the year.
Events
On the events side of things, we hosted a Google Chrome Enablement event in Brisbane, took part in the #HuaweiSPPartner Summit in Langkawi for an information exchange with industry partners, peers and experts and hosted a networking event with partners at the Michael Buble concert at Rod Laver Arena.
The Australian Open was another fantastic opportunity for us to reconnect with our partners at the start of the year. Like many, we felt helpless and saddened by the continuing bush fires burning across Australia and were honoured to be given the opportunity to support the #AORallyforRelief launched by Tennis Australia. An astounding $4.8M was raised, which went directly towards the bush fire relief and recovery cause.
In the lead up to International Women’s Day on 8 March 2020, our Senior Human Resources Manager, Meghana Dhupar, former Finance Manager, Doris Yiu, and Senior Sales Manager, Rupa Ganguly, shared their perspectives on women’s equality in the workplace and the importance of an equal working environment.
Navigating changes in the market
As we stepped into unprecedented times, we reassured all of our partners about our commitment to serving businesses, with minimal impact to operations. We produced over 40 webinars in partnership with vendors to help businesses stay relevant, nimble and up to date with changes in the channel. Watch our on-demand webinars here.
As we continued to monitor evolving customer priorities as digital initiatives moved into the mainstream, we held a two part MSP webinar series to help partners prepare themselves and build a robust business. In conjunction with industry experts, we explored key investment priorities and opportunities for MSPs across two main topics:

Expanding our offerings
Throughout the year, we welcomed a number of new vendor partners into our solutions set who bring added value to our offerings. This includes:
- Jamf
- Webroot
- Neverware
- Cricut
- Kaseya
- Sine
- Actura
- CloudM
- Freshworks
- Imou
- Google Workspace
- Panzerglass
- Spark
- Nerdio
In July, we were excited to announce a $95 million investment to build a new automated logistics centre and ANZ head office in Melbourne as we strengthen our local presence.
“There will be a greater capacity to facilitate business collaboration, focus on providing cloud, IoT and ‘as-a-service’ solutions”, says Synnex Australia CEO, Kee Ong. Read more.
Construction has also commenced for our second logistics centre (DC2) to deliver an additional 65% storage capacity and a purpose-built configuration centre, capable of handling full-scale services.
As part of our five-year growth strategic plan, this is on track to be fully operational by September 2021.
In addition to this, we launched the Apple financial service, a flexible financing option that helps partners close more deals and retain more customers while saving. Explore this opportunity.
More recently, we were humbled to have received the HP PC Distributor of the year 2020 award for our 2020 record results, strong partnership and industry and channel credibility. This recognition from HP validates our ability to dynamically adapt to market changes and demands.
2020 wrap up
As the year comes to an end, from the whole team at Synnex, we would like to thank all of our partners for their invaluable support this year and congratulate them for their successes, big and small.
We look forward to continuing to grow our partnerships in 2021 and wish you all a safe and happy new year.
