Key Microsoft CSP Changes Coming Soon – What You Need to Know

As Microsoft continues to tighten compliance and improve partner alignment, several key changes will take effect from August to October 2025, for which CSP partners must be prepared.

Below is a breakdown of the major updates and what actions you need to take to stay compliant and avoid service disruptions.

1. Partner of Record (POR) Validation – Effective 1 September 2025

Starting 1 September 2025, Microsoft will automatically validate the Partner of Record (POR) for all new CSP orders.

To ensure your orders are processed without delay, please complete the following steps:

Actions Required:
  • Populate your Partner Location Account (PLA) ID in the Synnex portal. Your PLA ID must be linked to your CSP enrolment.
  • Confirm your organisation has accepted the Microsoft Partner Agreement (MPA)
You can check your MPA acceptance status here.
  • Link Synnex as your distributor in Partner CenterLearn how to link a distributor
Key Terms Explained:
  • Partner of Record (POR): The Microsoft-recognised partner managing the customer's subscription.
  • Partner Location Account (PLA) ID: A unique ID for each partner location. Orders must be linked to the correct PLA ID and tenant. → [ Locate your PLA ID] | [Update in the Synnex portal ]
  • Microsoft Partner Agreement (MPA): A legal agreement required for CSP transactions.
  • Distributor Linkage: Your reseller account must be linked to a distributor (e.g., Synnex) to place orders.

2. Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) – Reacceptance Required by 7 October 2025

As announced earlier, from 7 October 2025, Microsoft will only accept the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) via:

  • The new Partner Attestation API, or
  • Direct customer acceptance
Action Required:

Partners who attested to the MCA before 1 April 2023 must ensure customers reaccept the current MCA using one of the methods above.

🚫 Failure to comply will result in being blocked from the following Partner Center actions:

  • New purchases
  • Quantity increases
  • Term duration or billing plan change
  • Subscription upgrades

3. MFA Enforcement for Partner Center – Starts 30 August 2025

From 30 August 2025, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be mandatory across all Partner Center UX experiences.

Action Required:

Set up MFA now to avoid any disruptions. MFA significantly strengthens your security, helping prevent over 99% of identity-based attacks.
